How We Create Stamped Concrete Surfaces
Stamped concrete requires skill and timing. The stamps have to be applied while the concrete is still workable, and the color and sealant need to be applied correctly to get the best results. Here is how we do it.
- Base Preparation: Just like any concrete project, we start with proper site prep. We excavate, grade, and compact the base to ensure a stable foundation.
- Color Application: We can add color in two ways. Integral color is mixed directly into the concrete for consistent color throughout. Color hardener is applied to the surface for deeper, richer tones.
- Stamping: Once the concrete is poured and leveled, we apply the stamps while the concrete is still soft. This is where the pattern and texture are created. Timing is everything, and our crew knows exactly when to stamp for the best results.
- Release Agent: We use a release agent to prevent the stamps from sticking to the concrete. This also adds a secondary color layer that creates depth and contrast in the pattern.
